Hip & Knee Pain

The knee is the largest joint in the body. It is made up of the femur (thigh bone), the tibia (shin bone), the patella (knee cap), the supporting ligaments and interarticular cartilage. As one of the most complex joints, there are many potential causes of knee pain.

  • Ligament sprains, strains and tears
    • Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries
    • Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injuries
    • Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) injuries
    • Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) injuries

Remember that this list is not exhaustive. There are many reasons why knees can hurt (and some of them don’t even involve the knee.

Hip Pain

Hip pain is a very common musculoskeletal complaint, especially in people who are involved in kicking sports such as football (soccer) or Rugby. Hip pain can also affect people who spend a lot of time standing or people who may be suffering with pain from osteoarthritis. All of our physios are experienced in treating common hip pain conditions. We also work with Brisbane’s top hip and knee specialists to provide rehabilitation following hip surgeries such as hip replacements and hip fracture fixations.

Our physios will thoroughly assess your hip to provide you with a diagnosis of your condition. Treatment generally involves managing pain by reducing irritation of the affected muscles, tendons and joints while restoring strength in the area through a strengthening program.
